Additional information

Perth Mint's one-kilogram lunar series pieces were produced in strict limited mintages — this 2006 Dog issue was capped at 30 pieces worldwide. The lunar series itself began in 1996, completing its first twelve-year cycle with the 2007 Pig, and the one-kilo denomination consistently attracts the lowest mintage of any size within each annual release. At spot prices alone the gold content has historically dominated valuation, but the sub-50-piece mintage on this particular year pushes collector premiums well above melt.
