The Year of the Ox falls in the Bhutanese calendar system rooted in the 60-year Tibetan Rabjung cycle, which itself derives from Indian and Chinese astronomical traditions absorbed into Vajrayana Buddhist practice — making the iconographic choice culturally layered in ways a straightforward lunar commemorative from another issuer would not be.
