The Maple Leaf Forever series sits at the top end of the Royal Canadian Mint's bullion-to-collector crossover output, issued in fractional and full-ounce platinum at a time when the RCM was aggressively competing with the Perth Mint and U.S. Mint for the high-net-worth collector market. Platinum struck at .9995 fineness exceeds the more common .9990 standard — a deliberate specification choice the RCM has maintained to differentiate its platinum program.
