Reverse description A cougar (Puma concolor) is depicted at rest upon a tree branch, its muscular body rendered in finely detailed high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The animal faces left, its forepaws folded beneath its chest and its hindquarters settled firmly on the branch, conveying a pose of alert repose. The engravers' initials 'GM' appear in the lower centre of the field. The legend 'CANADA' arcs along the upper periphery, while '300 DOLLARS' is inscribed along the lower border, separated by the mint mark.
