Comments

Fürth was among hundreds of German municipalities forced into emergency currency issuance during the hyperinflation of 1923, when the Reichsbank simply could not produce notes fast enough to keep pace with collapsing purchasing power. The 300,000 Mark denomination places this squarely in the mid-phase of that crisis — by late 1923, similar issuers had moved into the billions.

Three signatories across three civic offices was standard practice for Fürth's Notgeld series, a formality maintained even as the denominations became arithmetically absurd. Oberbürgermeister Wild's countersignature gave the issue nominal municipal authority, though in practice these notes were redeemable only within the city's own commercial network.
