Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Franz II facing right, with flowing hair tied at the nape and adorned with a laurel wreath rendered in fine detail. The effigy is executed in a neoclassical style characteristic of late 18th-century Austrian imperial coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading FRANC.II.D.G.R.IMP.S.AUG.G.H.ET.B.REX.A.A., identifying the ruler as Francis II, by the Grace of God Roman Emperor, August, King of Germany, Hungary, and Bohemia, Archduke of Austria. The rim is defined by a raised border with fine milling. The field is smooth and unadorned, with the bust occupying the central design in high relief.
