Reverse description The reverse bears a bold, two-line denomination inscription in large Latin characters occupying the majority of the field: the numeral '30' in the upper portion and 'REIS' below, both deeply incused in the rough hammered style typical of Goa mint copper coinage of this period. The plain, unadorned field around the lettering is characteristic of the utilitarian character of these colonial Portuguese Indian issues. No additional legend, border, or ornamental device is present.
