Obverse description The note is printed entirely in black on white paper in the classic Bank of England 'White Note' style, with a Britannia vignette in the upper-left corner. The promise of payment text is set in copperplate letterpress script across the body of the note, accompanied by the denomination 'Thirty Pounds' in bold calligraphic lettering. The Bank of England cypher and a decorative scrollwork border frame the central text, with the place of issue and authorising clause for the Governor and Company of the Bank of England completing the design.
Obverse lettering Bank of England I Promise to pay to on Demand the Sum of Thirty Pounds London For the Govr. and Compa. of the Bank of England
Reverse description The reverse is entirely blank, consistent with the uniface printing practice employed by the Bank of England for its White Note series throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
