Comments

Waidhofen an der Ybbs was one of hundreds of Austrian municipalities that resorted to printing their own Notgeld during the postwar currency chaos, when small-denomination coinage had effectively disappeared from circulation. This 30 Heller piece was produced locally by the town's own printing house — an arrangement that was convenient but also meant quality control varied considerably within the same series.

The PR1126a designation in the Jaksc catalog places it among the earliest issues from this municipality. Collectors should note that Waidhofen pieces frequently show ink inconsistency across printings, a direct consequence of wartime paper stock shortages that persisted well into 1920.
