Traunkirchen is a lakeside village on the Traunsee with a permanent population that barely cleared a thousand in 1920 — making this one of the smaller Austrian Gemeinden to have issued Notgeld during the postwar emergency. The Salzkammergut-Druckerei in Gmunden was the logical regional press for these small municipal issues, handling several surrounding communities during the same period when chronic coin shortages made low-denomination scrip a practical necessity rather than a political statement.

The 30 Heller denomination is mildly unusual — most Gemeinde issues clustered around 10, 20, and 50 Heller values.
