Comments

Eferding is a small Upper Austrian market town, and in 1920 it was still running a municipal food distribution office — the Städtische Lebensmittelabgabestelle — a wartime rationing infrastructure that outlasted the war itself. This 30 Heller note is a piece of that machinery: local Notgeld issued not by a bank but by a food supply authority, redeemable presumably against goods or local municipal obligations rather than through normal monetary channels.

The Jaksch/Pick reference JPR0152Vh identifies it within the Austrian Notgeld corpus, a category where local printing is the norm and surviving quantities are often impossible to determine.
