Slovenia hosted the World Rowing Championships on Lake Bled in 2011 — the third time the venue had held the event, following editions in 1966 and 1979. Bled's still alpine water and consistent late-summer conditions have made it one of the few courses in the world to receive repeated World Championship sanction.
