Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the portrait by Raphael David Maklouf, wearing the George IV State Diadem and a pearl drop earring with pearl necklace. The engraver's initials RDM appear on the truncation. The legend QUEEN ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper periphery, while the lower legend reads 1 KILO 999 SILVER TUVALU 2010, all within a wide raised rim.

Reverse description Central field features a rectangular color-printed reproduction of Katsushika Hokusai's celebrated ukiyo-e woodblock print 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa', faithfully rendered in full polychrome color. Surrounding the color insert, the field is engraved with stylized wave and seigaiha (overlapping scale) motifs in high relief, extending across the lower portion of the coin. Three decorative spiral rosettes are positioned above the central image. The legend HOKUSAI 250th Anniversary arcs along the upper periphery, and the denomination $30 appears in the lower exergue.
