Issued in the final months before Charles III coinage began displacing Elizabeth II types across Australian series, this piece carries a posthumous portrait authorized after the Queen's death in September 2022. The Perth Mint continued releasing Elizabeth II-obverse bullion issues well into 2023 as pre-approved programs ran their course — a routine administrative decision that nonetheless makes this among the last Australian gold coins to bear her likeness under an active mint program.
