Additional information

Australia's lunar series from the Perth Mint runs on a twelve-year cycle, and the Year of the Pig closes out the second full rotation that began in 2008. The 1-kilogram denomination in this series has historically sold out quickly on release — the Mint caps production tightly and publishes mintage limits in advance, which has made secondary-market premiums predictable and steep for the pig issues specifically.

Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth portrait of Elizabeth II, used here, was retired from Australian coinage shortly after 2019 in favor of Jody Clark's effigy — making this among the final large-format bullion strikes to carry that particular obverse.
