Additional information

The 1kg Kookaburra series, launched in 1990, was among the first kilogram silver bullion coins produced anywhere in the world for the collector-investor market. Perth Mint introduced the format partly in response to growing demand from Asian buyers, particularly in Hong Kong and Singapore, who favoured large-format silver as both a store of value and a gift item. The kookaburra design changes annually — a deliberate strategy to encourage year-on-year purchasing rather than single-entry collecting.

The 2005–2006 dual-date issue reflects Australia's fiscal year dating convention used briefly across several Perth Mint bullion products during this period.
