Obverse description Central shield of the Portuguese royal arms, featuring a quartered design with castles and quinas, surmounted by a royal crown. The mintmaster's initials G and A flank the shield in the left and right fields respectively, serving as the mint mark for the Goa mint. The entire device is enclosed within a dotted inner border, typical of the hammered coinage of Portuguese India.
