| Reverse description | A giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) is depicted seated on a rocky outcrop in the left-center field, facing right and rendered in finely detailed relief, with bamboo stalks rising behind it to the right. The denomination 3元 appears in the lower left field in large numerals and Chinese characters. The inscription 1/4oz Ag .999 is positioned along the upper left of the field, indicating the coin's silver content and weight. The design captures the characteristic naturalistic style associated with the Chinese Panda bullion series. |

| Additional information |
China's Panda bullion series launched in 1982, and the 25th anniversary in 2007 prompted the mint to revisit the program's origins. The 3 Yuan denomination itself is an oddity — introduced specifically for this commemorative issue rather than drawn from any regular bullion series, creating a face value that exists nowhere else in the Panda coinage family.
