| Reverse description | A sinuous imperial dragon rendered in high relief occupies the entire field, depicted in dynamic posture with scaled body, clawed feet, whiskered head, and flowing tail and mane, consistent with the Vietnamese court dragon tradition of the Nguyễn dynasty. The dragon is shown writhing amid stylized clouds. The rim is encircled by a reeded or beaded border matching the obverse. |

Thiệu Trị's reign was the shortest of the three early Nguyễn emperors, and the Board of Revenue operated under considerable fiscal strain throughout it — Vietnam was still absorbing the monetary infrastructure built under Minh Mạng, who had aggressively standardized coinage in the 1830s. The 3 tiền denomination in silver occupied an awkward practical position, too large for everyday transactions yet too small for the major commercial exchanges dominated by cast cash and ingot silver.
KM#275 is frequently encountered with die-alignment irregularities, a known characteristic of Board of Revenue silver from this reign rather than damage or post-mint alteration.
