Obverse description Four large Chữ Nôm characters arranged in cruciform around a central square perforation, reading clockwise from the top: 紹 (Thiệu), 通 (Thông), 治 (Trị), 寶 (Bảo), forming the reign title legend 紹治通寶 (Thiệu Trị Thông Bảo). The characters are rendered in bold raised relief within a plain, slightly concave field, bounded by a raised rim. The composition commemorates the reign title of Emperor Thiệu Trị of the Nguyễn dynasty.

Reverse description Two sinuous imperial dragons rendered in high relief flank the central square perforation, their scaled bodies coiling symmetrically around the hole in opposing directions. A stylised flaming pearl or cloud scroll motif appears above the square hole between the dragon heads, and an additional cloud or wave ornament is positioned below. The dragons are depicted with fine detail including clawed feet, scaled bodies, and flowing manes, all set within a plain raised border, in the traditional Nguyễn court artistic style.
