Additional information

Thiệu Trị's reign was the shortest of the four major Nguyễn emperors who issued silver coinage, and production under him was constrained by the court's increasing preference for cast bronze over struck silver for everyday transactions. The three-tiền denomination occupied an awkward middle position in the silver series — substantial enough for significant payments, but rarely appearing in hoards with the frequency of the single-tiền pieces.

KM#274 is periodically confused with issues of his father Minh Mạng due to similar module and weight standards carried over unchanged at succession.
