| Obverse lettering | IOHANN GEORG I D G DVX SAX IVL CLIV ET MONT S R IMP ARCHIM ET ELECT |
| Reverse description | The reverse is entirely occupied by a multi-line Latin inscription in bold capital lettering, filling the entire field without a central pictorial device. The text records the full titulature and regnal data of John George II, Duke of Saxony, Holy Roman Empire Arch-Marshal and Elector, Landgrave of Thuringia, Margrave of Meissen, and Vicar of the Empire following the death of Emperor Ferdinand III, together with his titles as Burgrave of Magdeburg, Count of Mark and Ravensberg, and Lord of Ravenstein. The inscription is presented in evenly spaced horizontal lines across the flan, characteristic of Saxon memorial coinage of the mid-seventeenth century, with a beaded border visible along the upper rim. |
