Reverse description A prominent eight-pointed Maltese cross occupies the entire central field, its points extending nearly to the beaded border. The cross is rendered with deeply incised lines forming the characteristic indented V-shaped notches between each arm, in the traditional style of the Order of St. John. A small six-pointed star appears in the upper field between the legend and the cross. The encircling Latin legend is separated from the cross by a plain inner border, and the coin's edge shows the characteristic irregularity of hammered production.
