Reverse description A crowned oval shield bearing the rampant Norwegian lion holding a battle-axe and facing left, superimposed at the centre of a cross. The shield is surmounted by a royal crown and enclosed within an ornate decorative frame. Two concentric legend bands surround the central device: the outer legend carries the king's titles and the inner band bears the royal motto. The mint master's initials are divided on either side of the shield at the level of the horizontal arms of the cross, while the date is split by the lower arm of the cross. The design is enclosed by an inner beaded circle at the rim.
