| Obverse description | Draped and armored half-bust effigy of King Christian IV facing right, positioned above a large ornate cartouche bearing the royal name and titles in Latin. The bust is enclosed within a rope circle, with the king's personal motto disposed in the outer legend beyond that circle. At the base of the design, the numerals of the date flank the lower lobes of the cartouche, while the mintmaster's marks appear at either side of the cartouche in the field. The overall composition is rendered in the elaborate Baroque mannerist style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Danish coinage. |
