Reverse description The reverse displays three fleurs-de-lis arranged in the traditional French royal heraldic grouping — two in the upper field and one below — within a beaded inner circle. A radiant sunburst issues from the top of the field above the fleurs-de-lis. The circumferential legend LUD · XVI · D · G · FR · ET · NAV · REX R, identifying Louis XVI as King of France and Navarre by the grace of God, runs around the periphery, all contained within an outer beaded border. The mint mark R for Orléans appears at the end of the legend.
