Obverse description Conjoined busts of Archduke Albert and Archduchess Isabella facing right, Albert in the foreground wearing armour with a ruff collar, Isabella partially visible behind him. The effigies are rendered in a bold, high-relief hammered style characteristic of Southern Netherlandish coinage of the early seventeenth century. A circular Latin legend surrounds the busts, reading ALBERTVS ET ELISABET DEI GRATIA, separated by pellets. The field is flat and unadorned, with the irregular flan edge typical of hand-struck silver coinage of this period.
