Obverse description Host coin obverse of a Spanish colonial 4 Reales of Ferdinand VI, struck at the Mexico City Mint, featuring the crowned Spanish royal coat of arms at centre within a tressure, surrounded by the royal legend. Superimposed upon the field is the British Jamaican crowned 'GR' (Georgius Rex) oval countermark, applied by authority to validate the coin for local circulation. The countermark is punched prominently, partially overlapping the host coin's legend and design elements.
