| Reverse description | Central crowned shield bearing the Tyrolean eagle, encircled by the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece, reflecting Maximilian's role as head of that chivalric order. Gothic foliate ornaments surmount the shield, flanked by the crowned arms of Old Hungary and Austria to either side, with the smaller arms of Old Burgundy and Habsburg positioned below. The date ·1·5·–·0·5· is displayed in split form at the upper field. The overall heraldic composition retains a distinctly Gothic character in its architectural arrangement and decorative vocabulary, contrasting with the Renaissance sensibility of the obverse. The Latin legend encircles the entire design along the coin's periphery. |
