Obverse description Central device features the double-headed eagle emblem of the Bank of Russia, displayed with wings spread and rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished proof field. The eagle is uncrowned, as customary on Bank of Russia commemorative issues. The denomination ТРИ РУБЛЯ appears as a legend along the upper arc, while БАНК РОССИИ is inscribed along the lower arc, both separated by raised dot stops. The date 2004 Г. is placed in the lower exergue, with the silver fineness notation Ag 900 to the left and the mint mark weight indicator 31,1 with the Moscow Mint monogram (ММД) to the right, all within a beaded inner border.

Reverse description The reverse presents a stylised representation of a monkey rendered in a bold, graphic linear style against a deeply frosted proof background. The primate is depicted in a seated three-quarter pose facing right, with its head shown in profile, one hand raised toward the face in a contemplative gesture and a curling tail extending to the lower left. The design is executed in two contrasting zones: a matte black frosted left field containing the monkey motif and a polished mirror-finish crescent-shaped right field, creating a dynamic yin-yang compositional effect. The entire central design is set within a broad plain border with a blue enamel ring along the rim, characteristic of this Russian Lunar series commemorative issue. No inscriptions appear on the reverse.
