Obverse description At the center of the obverse, the State Emblem of the Russian Federation — a double-headed eagle with wings displayed — is rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The eagle, depicted without crowns or orb and sceptre in the style used for Bank of Russia commemorative issues, faces outward with both heads. Surrounding the central device is an inner dotted border. The Cyrillic legend ТРИ РУБЛЯ arcs across the upper field, while БАНК РОССИИ curves along the lower portion of the coin below the eagle. The date 1998Г. appears at the bottom, with the silver fineness mark Ag 900 inscribed to the lower left and the mint mark of the Moscow Mint (ММД, shown as a stylised monogram) to the lower right.
