Obverse description Central device features the double-headed eagle emblem of the Bank of Russia, displayed with wings spread and rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The eagle is uncrowned, in the post-Soviet style adopted for Bank of Russia commemorative coinage. Surrounding the central device is a beaded inner border, with the Cyrillic denomination legend ТРИ РУБ (Three Roubles) arcing across the upper field, the issuer legend БАНК РОССИИ (Bank of Russia) below the eagle, and the date 2008 Г. at the bottom. Flanking the eagle in the lower field are the fineness mark АГ 925 to the left and the mint mark 31,1 ММД to the right, indicating the Moscow Mint and troy ounce weight.
