Obverse description The obverse features the double-headed eagle after the design of artist Ivan Bilibin, displayed in the center of the field with spread wings and crowned heads. The upper legend reads «3 РУБЛЯ 1997 г.» (3 ROUBLES 1997) and the lower legend reads «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA), both arcing along the rim. Below the eagle, incuse inscriptions in the field denote the metal designation, fineness (Ag 900), fine metal content (31.1), and the Moscow Mint monogram (ММД).
