| Reverse description | The reverse features a finely rendered reproduction of Boris Kustodiev's celebrated 1918 painting 'The Merchant's Wife at Tea,' depicted within a rectangular frame at center. The scene shows a richly dressed, full-figured merchant's wife seated outdoors at a table laden with a samovar, teacups, a watermelon, and other provisions, with a cat perched beside her and a townscape visible in the background. The legend РУССКИЙ МУЗЕЙ arcs vertically along the left and right sides of the field in bold Cyrillic characters. In the lower portion, a detailed architectural rendering of the Mikhailovsky Palace (home of the Russian Museum) is shown beneath the commemorative inscription 100 ЛЕТ, celebrating the centenary of the institution's founding. |
