Obverse description Central device features the State Emblem of the Russian Federation — a double-headed eagle displayed, crowned with two imperial crowns surmounted by a third larger crown, holding an orb in the right talon and a sceptre in the left; a shield on the breast depicts St. George slaying the dragon. The legend РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ arcs across the upper field in Cyrillic characters. Below the eagle, the denomination 3 РУБЛЯ and the date 2012 г. are inscribed in two lines. The lower left corner bears the mint mark of the Saint Petersburg Mint (СПМД), while the lower right carries the fineness and weight designation Ag 999 31,1.
