| Obverse description | A boldly modelled German imperial eagle stands facing right in high relief at centre, wings spread upward and head raised with open beak. The numeral '3' appears in the lower right field beside the bird's talons, which grip a horizontal baseline. The mint mark 'D' is placed in the exergue below the baseline. The legend 'REICHSMARK' arcs around the left and upper periphery in spaced capitals, with 'MARK' continuing along the right rim. The overall design, executed by Karl Goetz, reflects an expressionist medallic aesthetic characteristic of Weimar-era coinage proposals. |
