The commemorative dates 1729 and 1929, marking the bicentenary of his birth, are inscribed vertically to the left and right of the portrait respectively. Below the bust, in two lines, the abbreviated name GOTTH.EPHRAIM LESSING is incused in block capitals. The mint mark appears at the bottom of the field beneath the name. |
