Obverse description Central oval shield bearing the quartered arms of Saxony, depicting alternating horizontal barry fields with the crowned Thuringian lion in the inescutcheon, all enclosed within an ornate baroque cartouche with scrolling foliate mantling extending to the coin's periphery. The shield is rendered in a bold, deeply struck style characteristic of late 17th-century German hammered coinage.

Reverse description Imperial orb surmounted by a patriarchal cross, with the numeral 3 inscribed within the lower portion of the orb, denoting the denomination. The date 1680 is divided across the upper field, with '16' to the left and '80' to the right of the cross; the mintmaster's initials 'GF' appear in the lower left field and the letter 'S' in the lower right field. The design follows the standard Kleinmünze type of the Holy Roman Empire.
