| Obverse description | Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George VI, modelled by Thomas Humphrey Paget, occupies the central field. The king is portrayed with a naturalistically rendered short hairstyle and a clean-shaven profile in the tradition of mid-twentieth-century British royal portraiture. The engraver's initials 'HP' appear in small relief below the truncation of the neck. The Latin legend GEORGIVS SEXTVS REX curves around the upper periphery, flanked by a finely beaded border encircling the entire obverse. |
