| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of King George II facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed flowing wig and laurel wreath. The king's effigy is clothed in a draped mantle fastened at the shoulder, with ornamental armor visible at the truncation. The circumferential Latin legend reads GEORGIVS·II·DEI·GRATIA· and runs from lower left to upper right around the periphery of the coin. The engraving, attributed to John Croker, displays the refined baroque portraiture characteristic of early Hanoverian coinage. |
