| Obverse description | Crowned bust of Queen Elizabeth I facing left, rendered in the hammered style typical of mid-Tudor coinage, with flowing hair visible beneath an ornate Tudor crown. The queen is depicted with a draped and ruffled bodice, her portrait executed in fine relief. A Tudor rose appears in the field to the right of the effigy, serving as a heraldic device. The entire central design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The Latin legend encircles the bust between the inner and outer beaded borders. |

| Reverse description | A square shield of the quartered royal arms of England and France is centrally placed upon a long cross fourchée, whose four limbs extend to the inner beaded circle and divide the reverse field into four quarters. The mint mark appears at the top of the cross above the shield, and the date is similarly placed above the shield within the legend. The Latin motto legend runs continuously around the field between the inner and outer beaded borders, punctuated by decorative stops. |
