Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King Edward VIII facing left, rendered in high relief with naturalistic detail, the portrait engraved by Thomas Humphrey Paget. The king is depicted without a crown, a deliberate departure from royal numismatic convention reflecting Edward's personal preference. The initials 'HP' appear discreetly in the field below the truncation. A continuous Latin legend encircles the effigy within the twelve-sided border.
