| Obverse description | Central field bears a four-character Chinese legend reading 光緒元寶 (Guangxu Yuanbao, meaning 'Guangxu Original Currency') arranged in cruciform fashion within a beaded inner circle. Surrounding the inner circle, the outer legend in Chinese and Arabic script reads 叁錢 (3 Qian) at the bottom and 喀什噶爾 (Kashgar) to the upper left, with the Arabic inscription وج مثقال ١٣٢٣ (3 Mithqual, AH 1323) completing the outer band. The bilingual legends reflect the dual Sino-Islamic cultural context of late Qing-era Sinkiang coinage, with the entire design enclosed by a reeded border. |
