Obverse description Eight Chinese ideograms arranged in a vertical and diagonal composition across the field, reading from top to bottom and right to left. The legend reads 喀什 光緒 銀圓 叁錢, identifying the Guangxu Emperor reign title, the Kashgar mint, and the denomination of three qian in silver. The characters are boldly incuse-struck in a calligraphic style against a flat, unadorned field. A finely toothed or engine-turned border encircles the entire design.
