Obverse description Within the plain scalloped field, the denomination numeral '3' and superscript letter 'M' appear in raised relief in the upper portion of the flan. Centrally positioned below the denomination is the incuse Royal Mint logo, depicting a stylised representation of the Tower of London gateway with two flanking turrets surmounted by crosses, all enclosed within a square cartouche. The design is minimal and functional, consistent with a planchet trial strike intended to test flan characteristics rather than to display a fully developed coin design.
