| Obverse description | Conjoined busts of Grand Duke Wilhelm Ernst and his ancestor Carl August facing right, both in military uniform with epaulettes; Wilhelm Ernst shown in the foreground wearing a Prussian-style tunic with prominent shoulder epaulette, Carl August behind in a Napoleonic-era uniform adorned with a star decoration at the collar.
