Obverse description Central device depicts the double-headed eagle of Lübeck displayed with wings spread, each head facing outward, surmounting an ornate heraldic shield charged with the city's arms. The eagle's talons grasp elaborate foliate mantling below the shield. The circumferential legend FREIE UND HANSESTADT LÜBECK arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin letters, flanked by a raised dot on each side, with the Berlin mint mark 'A' appearing at the lower center between two dots. The entire design is contained within a continuous raised bead border.
