Reverse description The quartered coat of arms of Bavaria is prominently displayed in the centre of the field, surmounted by a royal crown rendered in relief. The shield is divided into four quarters bearing the traditional Bavarian lozengy (fusilly) pattern in the upper left and lower right, a rampant lion in the upper right, and the Palatine lion passant in the lower left, all enclosed within a decorative scrolled cartouche. The denomination numeral 3 appears to the left of the shield and the abbreviation M to the right, with the legend BAYERN arching along the lower periphery in bold Latin capitals.
