Additional information

Elleore is a small island in Roskilde Fjord, Denmark, that declared itself a micro-kingdom in 1944 as an elaborate ongoing joke among a group of Danish schoolteachers. It issues coins, stamps, and laws, and observes its own calendar in which August is simply omitted. The Leo d'Or is part of a series of purely satirical issues with no circulation function whatsoever — the "kingdom" has no economy, no permanent residents, and a population that assembles once a year.
