Obverse description Central field bears an elongated spade-shaped escutcheon displaying the quartered ducal arms of Saxony, flanked by a laurel branch to the left and a palm branch to the right. A ducal crown surmounts the shield and divides the circular Latin legend, which is distributed across the upper portion of the coin. The heraldic composition is rendered in a refined neoclassical engraving style characteristic of early nineteenth-century German state coinage.
