Obverse description Crowned beardless effigy of Ferdinand I of Habsburg facing right, set within a beaded circle. The bust is rendered in the late medieval hammered style typical of Habsburg coinage from the Linz mint. The legend, commencing at 12 o'clock, reads FERDINAN D G RO VNG BO RE, abbreviating Ferdinandus Dei Gratia Romanorum Ungariae Bohemiaeque Rex. The portrait is presented in profile with the crown rendered in fine detail above the unbearded visage, consistent with early issues of Ferdinand I's reign.
